CLUBS FOUNDED BY THE ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FERNANDO
During its forty-nine year history, the Rotary Club of San Fernando has been instrumental in spreading the Rotary Code of Ethics throughout the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago and beyond.
The first Club founded by the San Fernando group in 1966 was on the neighbouring island of Grenada, a Club which is healthy and vibrant to this day.
The second was the Rotary Club of St. Augustine in 1967, which itself later founded another Club St. Augustine 11.
The year 1968 brought Rotary International to the sister isle of Tobago. Again, we are able to say that the Tobago Club is one of which we are proud.
Twelve years later, the need for second club in San Fernando was felt and the present San Fernando South Club was formed.
One more effort of which we are immensely proud is of our Rotaract Club founded in 1983 and which has more than done its part in helping the community of San Fernando.
In 1986, the Rotary Club of Point Fortin received its charter. This Club was also responsible for the introduction of the first women into Rotary in the Southland.
Rotary Village Corps founded in 1994 in the village of Rousillac.
Two Interact Clubs, one at Naparima Girls’ High School and the other at Presentation College, San Fernando, were started in 2009 to be chartered.
