Judy’s Annual Children’s Toy and Book Collection drive on behalf of her Rotary Club of San Fernando

Judy Ahamad’s St Joseph Village residence resonated with the sounds of Elvis Presley, the Platters, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra on October 30th.   The occasion was Judy’s Annual Children’s Toy and Book Collection drive on behalf of her Rotary Club of San Fernando.

As is custom the event has a theme and this year’s was Fashion of the Fifties.  Polka dots and flared skirts were the order of the evening at the all lady affair.  The ladies conformed to the theme and coupled with the music and decorations, one would have thought they went sixty years back in time.  A sumptuous dinner was served and cocktail glasses clinked everywhere.  Judy’s husband Imtiaz joined the affair for a while and walked around with a broad smile on his face.

The winner of the best Fifties outfit was Jacqueline Ramoutar who wore a flared red dress with tiny white polka dots, white belt and shoes.  Jacqueline was asked to kick off the Karaoke aspect of the evening and she was followed by a bevy of ladies who belted out their favourites lustily.

This is the third edition of this event and it has grown in terms of quantity and quality of Christmas gifts collected for children. Judy provides the venue, meal and drinks and of course the ambiance and in turn each guest brings along quality gifts as their “entrance fee”.  Hundreds of children’s Christmas wishes have been fulfilled through their receipt of these gifts.  The event which started a 5 pm went well into the night with everyone having a great time.  We look forward to what Judy and her group have in store for next year.
