SPREAD THE WORD
The work that Rotary has done and continues to do in the interest of the underprivileged worldwide is of such magnitude that we ought to shout about it from the hill tops.
While it is said about charity that the left hand should not know what the right hand is doing, the work of Rotary, through charitable in nature, does now fall under the injunction.
At the community level, almost on a daily basis Rotary is at work touching the lives of the less fortunate amongst us. Admittedly, it would be in bad taste and even embarrassing to publicise some of the assistance that we give, but in a
general way, the community at large must be educated about the selfless service that our organisation renders.
And why should we educate the public ? Simple !
It is the public that is responsible for the success of our various projects, whether that success is great or small. Without the support of the members of the public, both corporate and individual citizens, we would hardly be able to do much.
Wouldn’t a greater awareness of the variety of ways in which we bring relief to the needy in the society encourage the members of that society to give more freely ? I think it would. But there is another reason as well, and that is that when we take help from the public whether in cash or kind, we have a moral responsibility to account to them for that assistance they give.
Let us therefore “Spread The Word” and encourage the members of the community and beyond to “Lend A Hand”.
